I woke up to a cold and dreary day. The sun must have been tired from the two almost 70 degree days because it decided to take a vacation and let the rain come out and play. Nothing could put me in a bad mood though. I had plans after work and I was excited! The scary part was that the plans were with me, myself, and I. However, I found some confidence somewhere inside and couldn’t care less I was going out alone, to be in a crowd of strangers. What was I going to do? I was going to a Decade Tour show!
Megosh, Hearts & Hands, Farewell,My Love, Get Scared and Alesana! I’ll be honest here. I went to the show to see Farewell, My Love. I’d heard of Get Scared and Alesana, but never really listened to their music. I had never heard of Megosh or Hearts & Hands.
Work couldn’t end soon enough. While I love my job, going to see the Decade Tour show was a lot more appealing than keying invoices and filing papers. When the work day finally ended, I still had time to kill before going out. I finished my gift for Farewell, My Love, feeling pretty good about myself for finishing it in less than 24 hours. (You see, I wanted to give F,ML something to remember their first stop on the tour and I had trouble figuring out what to do, but once I did I was determined.) I went to my car, put my things away and headed to the venue.
Luckily I didn’t have to wait outside but just a few minutes. It had stopped raining, but it was only about 36 degrees. I had just enough time to get a bottle of water and a spot towards the back of the venue before Megosh started their set.
Now, the part you’ve been waiting for…
Megosh was the first band to perform. I had never heard of them before, but I really enjoyed their set! So much that I bought their CD! Megosh had a wonderful stage presence. They rocked out and got the crowd going! When their set was over they came out and mingled with the crowd, took pictures and signed autographs.
Hearts & Hands was up next. I had never heard of this band either. Never the less, I was impressed. Their stage presence was great! The crowd loved them! They did a wonderful job of getting the crowd even more pumped up. They, too, came out and mingled when their set was over and took pictures and signed autographs. I plan to get their music as well.
The third opening band was Farewell, My Love! These are the five guys I came to see and support. There were a lot more Lovers at the show than I thought would be. I always feel like not many people like the same music I do where I live. F,ML rocked out! The stage was kind of small, I think it was a few feet short of being 30 feet wide. As I watched them perform I couldn’t help but think someone was going to get hit. Whether it was Ryan in the face with a guitar or Logan, Charlee or Robby by Ryan’s hand. They did well, though. No one was injured. F,ML owned the stage! I knew their set would be absolutely amazing, but they surpassed my thoughts of what the set would be by miles! When their set was over the guys came out and took what seemed like a thousand photos, signed a hundred autographs and talked with anyone who wanted to talk. Their smiles never faded and their hands were still attached when they left, no worries. haha
Up next, the last opening band, was Get Scared! I found Get Scared after I ran across another band the lead singer was in for a while. Their music is awesome! Their performance is everything you’d think it would be. Nick Matthews, vocals, really knows how to get the crowd going. This set is when the mosh pit began. Nick’s energy is great! He gets in the crowd’s face and they can’t help but get excited and scream the lyrics at him. After seeing Get Scared live, I like them more and will definitely be listening to their music more than I did before. After their set, I saw Nick in the crowd. I’m sure the other band members were in the crowd, but honestly I don’t know the band well enough to say where they were.
Last, but definitely not least, the reason for the Decade Tour…ALESANA! I had heard of, but never listened to Alesana before this show. Talk about a crowd going crazy! This band had major stage presence! They are awesome! The mosh pit got bigger and the crowd surfing started. I believe it was when Alesana had the lead singer of Megosh do a song with them that started the crowd surfing because he was the first to trust the nice sized, but not quite surf sized crowd. Alesana is an amazing band, no other band is quite like them. They dominate the stage and you can really see that they love performing. They also seem to be really nice guys. One of them took time towards the end of the set to wish his wife happy birthday. I don’t know what else to say about Alesana, I can’t find enough words. If you ever get the chance you should definitely see them live!
The five bands that make up the Decade Tour may be somewhat classified in the same music genre, but each of them are their own genre. These bands are simply amazing and I am so glad I was able to go to the show! If the Decade Tour is coming close to you I suggest going! Also, if any of these bands come to your city you should go! I cannot say enough good things about this tour. I look forward to seeing them all again!
I hope Megosh, Hearts & Hands, Farewell, My Love, Get Scared and Alesana stay safe and have a wonderful rest of the tour! Keep up the awesomeness!
